How to feel comfortable in front of the camera

Hey There!

If you (or your partner!) are camera-shy people, wedding photos can be a nerve-wracking process. You know you should probably get them done, but the idea of being in front of a camera is… eeeek! Terrifying! Thankfully, we’ve got tips to get you comfortable for your photos.  And as documentary photographers you can trust that we will be making images that show the connection and love you have for not just your other half but also your friends and family.

We can make your portrait session longer, shorter or not at all.  Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Take your photos in a private location

If you’re very nervous about your photo being taken, choose a secluded location for your wedding photos. This will help to relieve some stress of having others watching you when you’re being photographed.

Get to know your photographers

Getting to know your photographers ahead of time can help take some of the edge off. Engagement shoots are a great opportunity to get to know each other ahead of time.  That way we get to feel each other out and we get to know your personalities and how you show your love to each other.

Think about your first date or other special moments you've had together

Think about the first time you two went out. More importantly, think about how far you’ve come since then! Remind each other of your journey as a couple.

Say your favourite colour slowly and sexily

This one sounds ridiculous and I promise it has great results!  Who can stay serious while saying 'bluuuuueeee' in their most sultry voice?  It's a great way to laugh and break the tension.

Considered incorporating an activity that you love to do together

Bringing alone a board game, some golf clubs, motorcycle or some other part of an activity you like to do together.  It can really help to have something to do together. to calm any nerves. And bonus, it's fun to have a favourite pastime as part of your wedding day!

Reminder: You’re there for each other

At the end of the day, you’re there for each other, the people you love and who love you. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. These photos are for you two to remember this amazing moment in your life.
