What to Expect from Your Portrait Photography Session

Lake Country family photo winter session

You don't get your pictures done by a pro photographer every day! If you're like most people,

you might feel a little awkward in front of the camera. This guide will help you know what to

expect; let's prepare to take some incredible pictures of you and wave goodbye to those nerves!

Prepare your clothing in advance.

What should I wear is the question I get from clients the most. Here are some short suggestions:

·Put on layers. In this manner, you can alter the appearance of your photographs without

having to change your attire by removing or adding a layer (such as a cardigan or jacket).

·Avoid using bold colors. Make sure you're comfy; choose muted colors like jewel tones and

neutrals.

·You probably won't get the best images from your session if you can't move around easily,

so make sure you're comfortable.

While it is possible to change clothes, keep in mind that you may not have access to a

changing area and will likely need to change in a vehicle. Wearing layers can be quite helpful

in this situation! Also, it means spending less time getting dressed and more time actually

shooting.

Do not stress over posing.

You might worry about where to position your hands and body or how to smile if you're not

used to having your picture taken. Don't worry! I assist my clients in expressing their true

selves by guiding them into poses that are natural to them. To get a broad range of photos,

we'll take both posed and candid images so you'll have plenty to choose from.

Discover potential locations.

Having trouble deciding where to have your session? I'm familiar with all the best local spots,

including some hidden gems you might not know. Finding amazing locations to photograph

my clients is one of my favorite aspects of being a photographer. We can use your chosen

location, of course, but I can also suggest some gorgeous locations that will look fantastic in

your pictures.

Give yourself time to prep.

You don't want to race into your session feeling hurried and stressed. In order to avoid that

feeling, you should allow yourself plenty of time to get ready in the morning before your

session, and make sure everyone eats a good breakfast too!

Be open-minded.

A professional photographer's knowledge and years of experience are yours when you

employ them. Although sometimes my instructions might appear a little strange or downright weird, try to trust

me! Keep an open mind and be willing to try something new when we work together since I

know how to work magic and produce photographs you'll love.

Communicate.

Do you have a specific image in mind or an idea you want to try? Keep up the dialogue

through the session and let me know! Your chances of receiving the pictures you've been

dreaming of since scheduling your session are better when you are honest about what you're

looking for and I absolutely love when clients bring ideas and parts of their personality to a session!
